Yesterday was an interesting day as I had a chance to meet with a CEO of a growing company. It was an hour of discussion and I have learnt a lot from him. Salute to the CEO- Mr Kor.
There are a few points that he mentioned to me leaves a big impact in my mind and I will never forget it. He created a definition of R.E.A.L. Success, in which R.E.A.L. Success is formed from the following elements:
R: Relationships
E: Equipting
A: Attitude
L: Leadership
I heard from his associates that the CEO emphasis a lot on relationships among the members of the company. The CEO also highlighted to me that when we are saying 'we want to climb up the corporate ladder', it means how well you manage your relationship with other members of the company to support, assist and bring you up the ladder but not 'climbing up' by killing other people.
Besides, I also discussed with him about the working culture for the company, in which the dress code, working hours, Internet facilities and usage policy. The first thing he told me is 'Just look at how I am dress up?' (He was wearing in a smart casual manner). He told me that he practices 'Discipline Flexibility', which I am very impressed with. He elaborated that 'You are adult, although you may be just a fresh graduate, but you know deep in your heart that you have and able to be responsible on your tasks and works. If you are allowed to surf the Internet, using Yahoo Messenger, please don't use it to surf the porn sites.' He added 'Some come in at 9am, some at 9:15am, as long as you get your job completed (really completed) by due date, I am ok with that.'
From the way he said, 'I provide rooms for my associates to do things using their own way because they are smart people and have their own way of thinking, creative way of doing their work; if one day they feel that they are more capable if sitting on my position, go ahead!' I can see that he is a very understandable person, a real leader.
It was a great experience! Really appreciated! Thanks Mr Kor.

looking fwd of it oso. fr mei mei...
Can you check with Mr Kor, can he give me a offer, if I can report to work between 9:30am and 13:00am everyday. Surf the net (of course not porn site and non job related). Chatting with my friends all the time and not 'REALLY' complete the job as long a I can justify with good reasons.
I am not sure what Mr Kor's answer would be, if I still have a chance to meet him again, I will try to find out from him on your inquiry.
However, personally I felt that when Mr Kor mentioned 'Discipline Flexibility', I believe he meant you can do anything as long it's a mature act (in which you are going to be responsible for all the consequences) and you are able to deliver at the end of the day.
I have in fact benefited a lot during my industrial training by surfing the Internet most of the time to expose myself to the many new technologies, learning it and getting myself more equipped with the knowledge I need to reach to today's level. Besides, I also chat with many experience and competent people, performing experience sharing, knowledge acquisition and technology transfer.
In short, I believe it's just the matter of be responsible with what you do and what you are suppose to deliver because we are a mature adult!
HH:I agree with what he say but as i notice in US,only some company implement this and only for specifis field.well,i am taking seminar in organization behavior this sem and we do discuss alot about this question.Do u know about the X and Y theory?they divide the employee to 2 category and what Mr Kor said actually only can succeed for Y ppl. I hav a lot or article about management...if u want, i can email to u, just let me know
Gal gal, I would like to know more about the X and Y Theory and why do you say if the management style if is applied on Y group of people would only be successful. Then, which management style is appropriate for employee who falls under the X category?
